Here is another edition of our bi-annual VOTC newsletter.
Our new website, www.voiceofthechurch.org continues to function well and our database continues to grow. MP3 audio files as well as PDF document files are uploaded on a monthly basis and serve to provide a substantial resource of meditations on various topics of interest. We recommend this extensive database to your Home Mission and Evangelism Committees because they may find these 10-15 minute meditations to be excellent for use in leading devotional services at nursing homes or for other occasions. Please pass this information on to your evangelism committees!
Our VOTC presence on www.sermonaudio.com has also enjoyed a substantial increase in traffic. They presently share a total of 568 meditations and continue to supply us with statistical information on a regular basis. Since our last newsletter in October 2015 they reported an increase in page views from 147,639 to 154,857. A total of 38,895 of our meditations were downloaded at that time, and that has also increased to a healthy 40,222 MP3 downloads. Last month our own website front page was visited 396 times. These statistics and others are on the “About Us” page of our website.
The weekly meditations continue to be heard on the following radio stations;
CFAM-AM @ 950 Khz in Altona, Manitoba, Canada
WDCX-FM @ 99.5 Mhz in Buffalo, New York, USA
CJOY-AM@ 1460 Khz in Guelph, Ontario, Canada
KGCE-LP @ 106.1 Mhz in Modesto, California, USA
KGCE-LP has been carrying our media outreach program on the local airwaves, as well as on the internet since January 2015. At various times in the week Voice of the Church can be heard in that area and we continue to be encouraged by their participation.
The titles of our meditations are faithfully sent by our clerk to the supporting churches for publication in their church bulletins. Please ensure your bulletin editor receives this information and that it is also published.
Last fall we completed a letter writing campaign to promote our existence in the Canadian Reformed communities in Canada and the USA. Letters were sent to all the churches in our federation in the hope that those churches within our own federation who are not (yet) supporting the VOTC financially and/or sponsoring broadcasts of the meditations in their local area, may consider doing so. We are thrilled to report that this campaign has met with considerable success and we were able to add 7 congregations to the list of supporting churches. That amounts to an increase of 24% in our support base and via this newsletter we extend a heartfelt thank you to those congregations who have recently joined our broadcast!
It is also our plan to begin a similar awareness campaign in the churches belonging to the federation of United Reformed Churches in North America (URCNA). We’ll start this by inviting these congregations to post a link to VOTC on their congregational websites, so that our media outreach as Reformed believers may receive a wider scope of cooperation. We would hope in this way to get more people actively involved in promoting the work of Voice of the Church.
In the fall of this year we’re planning a mini conference by way of hosting a breakfast meeting, followed by an informative session to acquaint delegates with the work of VOTC. We invite you to stay tuned for more information about this exciting event.
As VOTC board we thank you for your ongoing financial support, but above all for your prayers. May the Lord continue to bless us as we continue our work in 2016, D.V. Currently the VOTC Board consists of the following members:
